Genius Grace

Vogue's September issue has done it again, the best of the best is in this issue, and the most amazing editorials are gracing the pages of this magazine. I can't say enough about Grace Coddington and how much I love her styling, she is a genius.

My. Life.

The pictures from the photo shoot I did with my FIT Styling course were put up today and I can not be more thrilled with all the pictures and how they came out. We had an amazing photographer Michael Creagh, he was very professional and helped so much with my group's whole idea and focus. We ended up changing most of our ideas, but I believe it was for the better because the pictures turned out perfectly.

Again, our shoot was based on it being in American Vogue, so we were focused on having the styling be sophisticated, classy, clean. We didn't use a lot of accessories and our clothes we picked from Blanc De Chine were very Vogue like, so perfect. The only thing I wish is that we could have gone on location for the shoot, everything would have looked even better a perfect location.

Je conçois

Surprise, I'm alive! Many of you don't know but right now I'm attending a Styling seminar at FIT learning amazing insight in to the world I will soon be in. I'm have the best experience of my life at this seminar, meeting people from around the word literally (Brazil, the Netherlands, Australia, Mexico, Japan and more!), learning, getting tips from my great and very experienced professors and I'm doing hands on activities on top of all that, getting to listen to key speakers and we got the opportunity to visit the MAC Pro studios. I can not talk highly enough about it.

Our main activity for the three days is creating a real photo shoot and styling it in a group, my group was assigned to do an editorial photo shoot as if it was going to be in American Vogue (which for me was easy! the rest of my group had to do a little research). We have a real fashion photographer (which I'll talk more about after the class is over!) and real models. We pulled clothes today from a gorgeous couture store in New York City called Blanc de Chine, although it's not my personal style the clothes were amazing and the fabric used was to die for! It was so much fun pulling clothes knowing that they will be in a real photo shoot that I'm helping style. The clothes my group pulled were gorgeous but I don't want to ruin it, you'll have to wait to see the photos after!

I'm going to leave with you an editorial from the July 2010 American Vogue that really inspired my whole group in which direction to go in when pulling outfits for our shoot, also we really loved the make up and hair styling done in this shoot as well.

A vision in white

Once again, US Vogue stuns me. This beautiful editorial What's White Now showcases with Jessica Stam and Heidi Mount as visions in white, and only white. The styling is beautiful, Brana Wolf you are amazing!
(also, the Dalmatians won me over right away - 101 Dalmatians anyone?)

Oh P.S. fun fact about Jessica Stam? She's apparently best friends with Liz Lee from My Life As Liz on MTV, they tweet about each other or with each other all the time, go to Jessica's twitter and Liz's to see!

Be my friend?

I have decided to start a post once a month about someone that I would die to be friends with, today's wonderful woman? Grace Coddington. Since The September Issue just was released on DVD, I watched it for the second time and really loved Grace in the movie, her humor, style, creativity and the way she can put an idea together into a photo shoot truly amazes me. In the movie they show pictures of her when she modeled for Vogue, she's gorgeous. Oh and it doesn't hurt that she's from Whales (the British accent wins it all).

In August 2008 Vogue did a shoot based off their own Creative Director Grace, the shoot even showed Grace's uncontrollable hair and love for cats:

Vogue also has an interview with her online, here are some of my favorite questions and answers on being in The September Issue:
"What was your reaction the first time you saw the movie?
Shock! Shock that I was in it as much as I was. I thought I would end up on the cutting-room floor. . . . It has happened before.

What’s it like watching yourself on-screen?
I’d much rather see myself in a still photograph than a moving one, because a still is more controlled and they can get rid of the double chins. I really thought I looked younger than that.

What’s the secret of surviving for 27 years in fashion?
Twenty-seven! Are you kidding? Do I look that young? Try 50!
There is no secret—just by absolutely loving what you do. Maybe it looks easy in the film to get great pictures. But there’s a lot more lead up, which you wouldn’t want to film because it’s boring. There’s all the wheeling and dealing to get the people to do the picture. There’s making sure you get the best clothes first, getting the right photographer and model, hair and makeup. The precise team is all-important. I do not accept second best. That’s my strength and my downfall, at the same time. Because I’m so stubborn I often do end up getting what I want. Even at school. On my reports it used to say, “Grace has a sweet way of getting her will.” I mean, I AM aware that sometimes I can be very annoying."

February Style Inspiration: Michelle Williams

It's officially February, I had a snow day at school today which was much needed. I spent the whole day in my boyfriend's room watching people make snowmen. (I hate the snow and refuse to go outside). So now for my part 1 of 2 style inspirations for this month. The lovely Michelle Williams is my girl. In the past couple of years she's been becoming very fashionable, from awards to street wear I love everything.

She's also been featured in British Vogue in April 2008, the editorial reminds me so much of everything I'm loving for spring! And she looks gorgeous on top of all the styling and the setting.

And also was on the cover of Vogue in October 2009 the whole shoot screams 60s and Twiggy to me, then I again I try to find the "Twiggy" in everything because I'm a little in love with her.

I seem to be drawn to the girls with pixie hair cuts huh? I wish I could pull that off but I would never have the guts! I am getting my hair cut when I go home for my sister's birthday, chopping a lot off I think, but that might change.

& thank you all for the sweet comments in my last post, (Arlyn - HI I LOVE YOU, I hope you see this) I'm glad you all read my blog and like what you see!
